In December of 2009 the band was featured in the BBC's Sound Of 2010 Poll. Soon after, Two Door Cinema Club was working on their debut album at a recording studio in London. They released their first EP titled Four Words To Stand on in 2009, which was well received and followed it with the release of the single "Something Good Can Work", which featured in a television advertisement. They set up a myspace page which started gaining a lot of interest and the trio decided to quit their University degrees to focus on music. The band's name came about after Halliday mispronounced the name of the local cinema, Tudor Cinema, and it stuck. Highschool friends Alex Trimble and Sam Halliday were out on the town when they met Kevin Baird who was trying to get with some girls they knew. They soon found a common interest in music and started writing songs. Hailing from Northern Ireland, Two Door Cinema Club formed in 2007.
